Honoring Nancy Seamons Crookston: A Day of Painting Together
Saturday, June 29 at 9:00 am - 4:00 pm
To celebrate the life of CAC Signature Artist Nancy Seamons Crookston (1948 – 2023), the California Art Club and the Frank Bette Center for the Arts are sponsoring Honoring Nancy Seamons Crookston: A Day of Painting Together.
The event will provide an opportunity to reminisce about this beloved artist, while painting in the morning and then selling works in the afternoon to fund an award in her name at the annual Frank Bette Center Plein Air Paint-Out.
From 9 a.m. to 12 noon, artists have the option to paint en plein air in Alameda, California, or create works of a live model in Room 215 of Alameda South Shore Center, which is across from Trabocco restaurant and by the frog pond.
From noon to 1 pm., artists may register to sell and set up for display their plein air or figurative work in the Center Court of the popular open-air shopping mall.
At 1:15 p.m., there will be a short talk about Crookston, followed by the sharing of stories of her life.
From 2 to 4 p.m., the artwork will be for sale to the public at the South Shore Center’s Center Court.
All sales will be handled by the Frank Bette Center for the Arts, with 60% of the proceeds to the participating artists and 40% to a fund to create the award for the Frank Bette Center Plein Air Paint-Out, which will be held July 29 to August 3, 2024. In addition, any donations will go 100% into this fund. If more than $1,000 is raised, the fund will be used for future year events.
