Dates: June 23, 2025 to September 19, 2025
Location:
CAC Virtual Gallery
Qualifications:
All current artist members of the California Art Club.
Subject:
The mission of this competition is to encourage artists to develop and refine their classical art skills and spotlight their mastery by providing a new platform for showcasing contemporary-traditional works of art.
We ask artists to represent A Summer’s Night via contemporary-traditional methods. Any genre of work will be eligible for consideration.
This exhibition invites artists into the quiet beauty and mystery of summer evenings, where the world softens under the glow of moonlight and stars. It will feature nocturnal scenes, capturing the serenity and magic of summer nights.
Examples:
Artworks could feature figures walking under a moonlit sky, or among the soft haze of candle light. Dreamy landscapes can show the interplay of light and shadow, reflecting the glow of streetlights and moonlight, or can feature beautiful sunsets. Still lifes can showcase summer fruits like peaches or figs illuminated in soft diffused light, or even a summer meal under the soft glow of candle light. Seascapes can highlight moon reflecting off the ocean, or can depict a tranquil ocean at dusk. It’s all up to your creative imagination!
Some potential sculptures could feature nocturnal animals like foxes, or owls. Sculptures could also pay tribute to the moon goddess, Diana.
We kindly request that artists submit works created in the last three years.
