Seda Baghdasarian will open a solo show: Armenia, Beauty of the  Land... at the Homenetmen Ararat Center in Los Angeles, April 25-26. Proceeds will benefit  Armenia's Village Schools. A reception will be held on April 25.

Christin Coy, Richard Lindenberg and Richard Schloss, three Novato artists, have donated works to be sold this weekend at the Marin Agricultural Land Trust™ "Ranches & Rolling Hills" landscape art show and sale. Half of the sale proceeds go to support MALT's™ work of preserving Marin County farmland. Coy, Lindenberg and Schloss are among the 45 participating artists. 
 
The show takes place from 2-5 p.m. Saturday, May 16, and from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, May 17, at the Druid's Hall on the village square of Nicasio. There is no admission charge.

D. L. Engle’s bronzes “Puma Ways” and “Happy Bear” are part of the Wildling Art Museum’s National touring exhibit Endangered Species: Flora & Fauna in Peril. “Puma Ways” was purchased for the Museum’s permanent collection.

The exhibition is currently at the U. S. Department of the Interior Museum, Washington, D.C. through February 28 2009. It will travel to The Wildlife Experience, Denver CO from May 9 - July 12, 2009.

Marian Fortunati has had two of her paintings, Monterey Magic and Bridge Over Malibu Creek juried into the "79th Annual Statewide Exhibit Irreplaceable Places: Contemporary Landscape Painters of California" from May 30 through June 28, 2009. The exhibition will be held at the Santa Cruz Art League, 526 Broadway, Santa Cruz, CA 95060, with a reception on June 6 from 3-5 p.m.



Jay F. Goldstein, sculptor, won the Gold Medal, Best in Masters Division, Interpretive Wood Sculpture at the 39th Annual Ward Museum/Foundation World Championship Wildfowl Carving Competition, April 2009.

Mr. Goldstein won the same award  at the Ward Museum’s 38th Annual Competition held in 2008.

Maggie Renner Hellmann has been juried into the Estes Park, CO, Plein Air Event 'Paint the Parks.' Artists will paint in Rocky Mountain National Park this August, 2009. An Artists' reception will be at the Earthwood Collections Gallery in Estes Park on August 29th, with the exhibition continuing through September 30th.

Hellmann's painting Begonia Fields will also be featured in the October 2009 issue of The Artist's Magazine in the 'Competition Spotlight' section.

Regina Hurley has recented finished a commissioned sculpture of Gandhi. Her painting Pink Poppy was awarded First Place in the San Clemente Art Association's "People's Choice Garden and Flower Theme Exhibition."  The show continues until Friday, May 1.

Art Mortimer is featured in the April issue of Southwest Art Magazine, on newsstands now, in an article about his murals and paintings.

Doloris Pederson will be included in the Kansas Masters Invitational Art Show, a biannual exhibit established in 2004 to benefit the Kansas Part Trust. The exhibition will be held at the Strecker-Nelson Gallery in Manhattan, Kansas from August 21 – October 2, 2009, with a reception on the opening night.

Aapo Pukk was recently commissioned to paint a portrait of Sister Terrence Landini. Providence Little Company of Mary Foundation Trustee Emeriti Carolyn Elliott and her husband Julian recently honored Sister Terrence Landini, L.C.M., by commissioning the portrait.  The portrait was first unveiled in December 2008 at Little Company of Mary Foundation’s board of trustee holiday dinner at the City Club of Los Angeles.

Vanessa Rothe will exhibit new paintings of Paris at J. Wilcott Gallery.

Grace Schlesier's painting, "Trade Winds," was a Finalist in International Artists magazine challenge No. 51 Subject: Seascapes, Rivers & Lakes, and will be featured in the June/July issue.  Schlesier was also recently named a Signature Member of the American Impressionist Society.

Phyllis Solcyk's painting "Our Homeland Defenders" has been selected by the Salmagundi Club's Excellence Committie to be included in the United States Coast Guard's Permanent Art Collection. Phyllis will be presented with a Commendation from the U.S. Coast Guard at Salmagundi's Awards Ceremony on June 25th, 2009.


Yvonne Steinbach has been awarded the National PaintAmerica Top 100 Painting Award for her painting entitled "Morro Bay Evening," which will be included on a national tour with the rest of the exhibition for a full year in 2009.

Steinbach will also be participate in Ironstone Vineyards' Theme Division, An Obsession With Ironstone, with her paintings "Enchantment" and "Beauty Of Spring."  These paintings will be on display through May 2009 at Ironstone Vineyards in Murphys, CA.

Gayle Stratford  was recently awarded third place for "The Photo Album," in the 2008 Portrait Society of American Members Showcase Competition. She also won awards in the 2008 Associated Artists of the Inland Valley Show; "Brothers" took Best of Show and "My Favorite Place - Self Portrait", took First Place.

Htun Tin's watercolor painting "Chin Girl" won First Place at the Emerald Spring Exhibition in Springfield, Oregon, held April 28-May 29, 2009. His painting "San Francisco Chinatown" won Artist Association Award at Northwest Watercolor Society's 69th Annual Open Exhibition, held April 13- May 15, 2009 on Mercer Island, Washington.
