Born Lancaster, New York on May 26, 1922. At an early age he migrated to Chicago, Illinois and was educated in the Chicago School System, graduating from high school with a diploma in art. He attended art classes at the Chicago Art Institute and Northwestern University until drafted into the Air Force during World War II. After the War he attended Woodbury college in Los Angeles and received a degree in Commercial Art. Harris also operated and ran a producing and preparing specialty packaging business for 27 years. He became a member of the California Art Club, and attended meetings and shows, most of which at the time were being held at the local restaurants. Several years later, after much urging by then president Henry Olivier, he became President of the Club and served in this capacity for several years. Harris' wife Lorraine also helped in organizing CAC events and meetings. Although retired from business since 1988, Harris is still painting vigorously in his studio in Culver City, California. He is an Honorary Lifetime Member of the California Art Club.
